Nashville Gear Rental is a subsidiary of Seek First Productions – a company that strives to shape the production industry for the better through its various entrepreneurial endeavors.
How Do I Rent Gear?
The easiest way to check out equipment is by heading over to the rental portion of our website. There you will be able to select the gear you need and book it for a period of time you choose by using an interactive calendar. Payment is handled through Paypal, which means we accept all major credit cards, along with direct Paypal transfers.
Do You Really Accept All Major Credit Cards?
Yes, for some reason Paypal made the button to pay by card gray, making it difficult to see. We’ve highlighted it with a red box below so you’ll be able to find it when you go through the checkout process.
Why Do You Have a $40 Minimum?
In order to cut back on overhead we’ve switched to a booking/pickup service. We do not store our gear on site, but bring it to your pickup appointment. We’ve found orders under $40 aren’t economical for us to fulfill with this method unfortunately.
What Time Should I Get My Things?
Once you place your order, we will be notified and in touch with you quickly to plan a time for pickup that works for you. One of the things that separates us from other rental houses is our customer service. We want to be able to meet your busy schedule’s needs. That means we can sometimes let you pick gear up after hours, on weekends, etc. if it works out. Currently we are not taking walk-ins. You must book through the website and then you’ll be placed in contact with a representative who can schedule pick up.
Where Do I Pick My Gear Up?
Simply swing by the office (location at bottom of website). We may be able to make even better pickup location arrangements for you – just ask.
Do You Offer Delivery?
We offer pickup and delivery for an additional fee depending on how far you are from our location. Typically our delivery fee ranges from $30 to $60 each way. If you are wanting delivery, let us know in the comments of your checkout and we’ll send you an additional invoice. When Do I Return My Gear?
When it most suits you and your schedule. We will work with you to find the best time on the day your gear is due back.
Do You Have Rental Agreements?
Yes, we do, we’re glad you asked! When you grab your gear, we will give you a rental agreement to fill out. Eventually these will be posted on our website for easier transaction. Part of the agreement requires a credit card to be on file with us, so make sure to bring one along. If you don’t use credit cards – perhaps you’re a Dave Ramsey subscriber? – ask us about alternatives. We likewise will need a photo ID on file.
What About Rental Insurance?
Our contracts basically say that if you break the gear, then you also must buy the gear. Insurance is a great way for you to not have to worry about that AC with the shaky hands dropping the camera on set. We require a certificate of insurance with “Seek First Productions, LLC” listed as additionally insured. At the same time, we recognize not everyone has production insurance – maybe you just got into the production game a few months ago and haven’t gotten around to it – in that case, ask us about alternatives.
I Really Hate Paying Extra on Weekends, Are You Different?
We really hate paying extra for weekend rentals too. The way we see it – if you’re only using it on Sunday, but we would rather you grab it on Friday, then we shouldn’t charge you for having it, but not using it, on Saturday. You are only charged for the days you plan on using the gear, no more, and no less.
I Need a Piece of Gear You Don’t Offer, What Do I Do?
Our goal is to become a source for filmmakers in Nashville, or producers visiting our city, to get the gear they need. Why Are Your Prices So Awesome/Why Are Your Prices So High?
Supply and demand my friend. Some items we have will be much cheaper than other rental houses. Other items may be more expensive. It comes down to what we own, and what people need most. Our goal is to always have the lowest prices, but it won’t always be a tenable goal to achieve.
